Dedicated to Irene Z. CLASSICAL TUNNELING AS THE RESULT OF RETARDATION IN CLASSICAL ELECTRODYNAMICS: NONRELATIVISTIC CASE

چکیده
The problem of radiation reaction in classical electrodynamics is still discussed in the literature (for ex. see [1]). This problem can be formulated in the following way: it is known that classical charged body moving with acceleration must radiate. Thus there is back reaction of outgoing electromagnetic waves. But what quantity feels this back reaction pure mechanical mass of a charged body or an effective mass, constructed from the mechanical mass and energy of self electromagnetic field? Is this effective mass constant on the trajectory of a moving body or a function of time? In another words, what is the dynamics of a charged body due to radiation reaction? To answer these questions long time ago [2] was proposed by Sommerfeld model of sphere with uniform surface charge Q and mechanical mass m. In nonrelativistic approximation such sphere obeys the equation (see also [3,4,5,6]):

متن کاملدینامیک سالیتونهای مدل 6 φ در یک پتانسیل خارجی
In this paper, we study particle aspects of the φ6 kinks in an external potential. The external potential is implemented by breaking the translational invariance of the system. The dynamics of the kink is calculated for the simple harmonic oscillator (SHO) and barrier potentials. The periodic motion of the kink in the SHO case is compared to the corresponding ordinary (classical) motion. It i...
متن کاملFrom Electromagnetic Duality to Extended Electrodynamics
This paper presents the transition from Classical Electrodynamics (CED) to Extended Electrodynamics (EED) from the electromagnetic duality point of view, and emphasizes the role of the canonical complex structure in R in, both, nonrelativistic and relativistic formulations of CED and EED. We begin with summarizing the motivations for passing to EED, as well as we motivate and outline the way to...
متن کاملSome bounds on unitary duals of classical groups - non-archimeden case
We first give bounds for domains where the unitarizabile subquotients can show up in the parabolically induced representations of classical $p$-adic groups. Roughly, they can show up only if the central character of the inducing irreducible cuspidal representation is dominated by the square root of the modular character of the minimal parabolic subgroup. For unitarizable subquotients...
متن کاملConnecting Blackbody Radiation, Relativity, and Discrete Charge in Classical Electrodynamics
It is suggested that an understanding of blackbody radiation within classical physics requires the presence of classical electromagnetic zero-point radiation, the restriction to relativistic (Coulomb) scattering systems, and the use of discrete charge. The contrasting scaling properties of nonrelativistic classical mechanics and classical electrodynamics are noted, and it is emphasized that the...
